  • 24 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)

For the Whipped Cream:

  • 1 cup heavy cream, chilled

  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1️⃣ Make the Shortcakes:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Cut in the butter until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.

  4. Gently stir in milk just until dough comes together.

  5. Turn dough onto a floured surface, pat into a 1-inch-thick rectangle, and cut into 6 rounds.

  1. In a bowl, toss sliced strawberries with sugar and lemon juice.

3️⃣ Whip the Cream:

  1. In a chilled bowl, beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.

4️⃣ Assemble:

  1. Slice shortcakes in half horizontally.

  2. Spoon strawberries and their juices onto the bottom half.

  3. Add a dollop of whipped cream.

  4. Place the top half of the shortcake on and garnish with more berries and cream.
