Description

This Cranberry Apple Crisp with Oat Topping is the ultimate cozy fall dessert. Sweet apples, tart cranberries, and a crunchy oat topping come together in a no-fuss recipe that’s perfect for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any autumn gathering. Serve it warm with ice cream or chilled with yogurt for a versatile treat that’s as festive as it is delicious.

Ingredients

Scale

For the fruit filling:

  • 5 medium apples (mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries (or frozen, unthawed)
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ cup brown sugar (or maple syrup)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg

For the oat topping:

  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour (or oat flour for gluten-free)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, cranberries, lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss until evenly coated.
  3. Transfer the fruit mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Cut in cold butter with a pastry cutter or your fingers until crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the fruit mixture.
  6. Bake for 40–45 minutes, until the fruit is bubbling and the topping is golden brown.
  7. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with ice cream or cold with yogurt.
