Description

These cheesy Halloween breadstick bones are buttery, bone-shaped breadsticks made from pizza dough, topped with melted mozzarella and Parmesan, and served with a spooky “bloody” marinara dip. A fun, kid-friendly, and savory Halloween party appetizer that’s easy to make and terrifyingly tasty!

Ingredients

Scale
  • All-purpose flour, for dusting work surface
  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade, room temperature)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Marinara sauce, for serving (store-bought or homemade)
  • Optional: garlic powder, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes (for extra flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. Dust a clean surface lightly with flour. Divide the pizza dough into 10 equal pieces.
  3. Roll each piece into an 8-inch rope, slightly thicker at both ends to resemble bones.
  4. Use kitchen scissors to snip a 1-inch slit at both ends of each dough rope. Gently stretch the flaps to form bone-like ends.
  5. Arrange the shaped breadsticks on the baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. Brush with melted butter, then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Add optional garlic powder or herbs if desired.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, until lightly golden.
  8. Remove from oven and top each breadstick with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  9. Return to oven and bake for another 5–7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  10. Serve warm with marinara sauce in a black ramekin or mini cauldron for a spooky touch.

Notes

  • Dough is easier to work with at room temperature—allow it to rest if cold.
  • Kitchen scissors work best for shaping the ends of the bones.
  • Customize the flavor with garlic butter, chili flakes, or stuffed cheese variations.
  • Great make-ahead option: Shape and refrigerate dough up to 24 hours in advance.
  • Perfect for parties, themed dinners, lunchboxes, or Halloween snack boards!
